Weekend in Review- Bachelorette Vibes

I can’t believe it has been so long since I last blogged (!) but my time has been spent doing a lot of things since then, I can assure you.

Most recently though, I was able to enjoy a weekend with my girls for my bachelorette party!! (Getting married VERRRYYY soon -eeek!)

Those ladies made sure I had a ball on the beach and I am forever grateful to call them my friends.

Weekend in Review – Teacher Appreciation Stuff

Life has been a bit of a blur, cookie orders, work stress and wedding planning have had me super caught up. I’ve even been missing from the gym, tsk tsk. I have a wedding I need to look amazing for!

I started off last weekend pretty well though; on the couch watching Star Wars movies all day. Yep nerd alert, I’m obsessed. And May 4 is Star Wars Day and TBS treated your girl with her fav movies all day long.

Actually I stepped out for a minute to deliver Teacher’s Appreciation cookies to some customers. I even put on my fancy new chef coat. I felt super legit wearing it, and now need to task someone with embroidering my name on that bad boy. Or my logo. Or maybe just my name, since I’m still undecided about rebranding.

I waited at Starbucks in between and treated myself to a Triple Mocha Frappe, wowwmagawd that thing was soooo good. I know it probably had mad calories in it, but man it was worth it.

For the teachers in my life, I spent the weekend getting a little crafty to thank them. Work station was looking like a tornado went off, but when I’m in creative mode that doesn’t always align with clean mode. It’s the only downside to the creative fun; the whirlwind of stuff after.

Check out these super cute mini cookies I made!

Sunday mini and I made a point to go have lunch together, (like she had a choice). Can you guess which one was mine? Also I got the side salad to make it seem healthy, but the dressing was just not doing it for me. I ate as much of it as i could (half) and disposed of the rest unhappily. I hate wasting food like that, but the dressing was such a buzzkill and was irking my tastebuds. I did get lots of healthy veggies on my pizza though! And I only ate half for lunch, I saved the rest for dinner.

First Baby-Free Weekend in almost 5 years

Holy guacamole, I can’t believe we’ve never had a real weekend away from babygirl in almost 5 years!

I’m not saying I’m trying to shirk my parenting responsibilities or anything cause I loveeee my princess, but a girl needs a break every now and then. I also think it’s super important for parents to remember who they were together before they became Mom & Dad.

It’s actually by way of an interesting turn of events that we scored our free weekend, and it happened to fall on my off Friday. JACKPOT.

We slept in Friday morning and I caught up on a few hours of work before heading out to get fresh hair cuts and eat some delicious food at this new healthy eating spot called Fresh Kitchen.

After that, we finally got to see Black Panther.

I felt like we were the last ones to see it, and have been avoiding all articles, comments and discussion about the movie because I didn’t want to be tainted before watching it.

Movie was great.

Saturday we spent most of the day at our marriage class, the real reason we got a kid free few days.

I thought the class was great; we talked about communication, finances, conflict resolution, personality types, parenting styles and natural family planning to name a few. Honestly probably every engaged couple should have to take something like that, get you to think about the bigger picture and are you guys on the same page.

Later we met up for drinks with D’s cousin.

We basically stayed out all of Saturday.

Sunday was for church, house cleaning, at-home movie watching and me practicing my calligraphy.

Though we missed her a lot and felt weird doing things without her, I think in the future we will need to look at planning more kid free weekends so baby girl can spend time with her family, and we can spend time as a couple. It was nice to just get up and go and do whatever we wanted with our staycation. And I know babygirl had a grand time getting spoiled this weekend as well. She didn’t even want to come home. 🙂

Weekend in Review- soccer & nibs

Weekend started with some Saturday soccer, our new normal.

Babygirl did sooo good. As a thoughtful loving little person, she has struggled a little bit with the aggressiveness that soccer requires. She sees the kids she plays with, as teammates and friends. That’s a great thing! I love that she understands teamwork and sharing, but when it comes down to playing against each other we needed her to just get out there and fight for the ball.

And this Saturday she did! She jumped in the thick of it all, and kicked the ball out and really showed the progress in her ball handling skills. I was super impressed! And she was happy to receive all the praise I was giving.

I made sure to get some arts and crafts time with her in so we could do an activity together.

She’s been obsessed with painting lately because she has been gifted lots of art supplies, so we painted this bird house.

Also at Hobby Lobby , i was able to pick up some ink and bibs… because I’m taking calligraphy up.

What’s that? I’m crazy you say? When do you even have the time to play with calligraphy pens???

Yes I know. But hear me out, I love doodling and writing. I’ve got pens and markers and brushes galore. I love the feel of pen on paper and making the words attractive to look at. And I can’t just have baking as a hobby, because let’s be honest I can’t eat all my kitchen creations. Especially when my wedding is on the horizon. So in an effort to ease my restless soul/hands I’ve decided to delve into the world of artistic lettering.

How cool would it be to do fancy wedding envelopes for people? Or do those gorgeous wedding signs that are becoming so popular? I know that’s super forward thinking of me, to already be crafting another business venture but clearly when I do something I just jump all the way in.

I started an Instagram for it in case you wanted to check out my newest non edible art.

Weekend in Review – Lazy Days

This weekend I had an off Friday

Got some gym time in and let me tell you the secret to cardio: is to do it with a friend. So much easier to barrel thru 30 minutes on the treadmill when someone you know is suffering with you and you catch up on “the tea” in between taking breaths and sipping water.

D and I also took a random trip out to some new construction homes to window-shop for houses that we can’t quite afford. We saw a beautiful 5 bedroom house that had this amazing loft space, I could imagine putting a projector in there and having a snack wall and popcorn maker. It had 2 masters and an amazing pantry and kitchen, the only downside was the laundry room was downstairs. I don’t know how I’ve lucked up to have always had my laundry be on the same floor as my bedroom, and I don’t have plans in the future to change that.

Saturday we took a drive to a car show. It wasn’t very big, but the weather was gorgeous and mini liked checking out all the old cars. Some allowed us to sit in there and snap a pic, and it was just nice to get out of the house and do something different. Now that she’s getting older I love that we can do fun random outings with her.

Sunday was a home day. We lounged on the couch, painted our toes, played Jenga, and I worked on some baking orders for the week.

Hope you all have a lovely week!

Weekend in Review- Christmas Party

It’s been a little crazy around her, last week was an exhausting week of work and baking adventures. I’m pretty sure I smelled like buttercream and was covered in sprinkles for most of it, but who says that’s bad?

I had a few orders due before my weekend started so that’s what kept me so busy:

Marble chocolate oreos for an engagement party

Finally Friday we were able to head to our friends house a few hours away. I missed my friends so I was glad to be spending the weekend with them to celebrate my friends 2nd annual Christmas party. And Bri was happy to see her “baby cousin” and titis.

Weekend in Review- Cupcake Cake

My weekend ended up taking a different direction than i originally planned. I needed to get my hair redone, my garage has been a mess for months, and I wanted to get out to the stores for Tax Free weekend and find baby girl some school pants.

Instead I ended up taking a cupcake cake order, cuddled for nap time and did some meal prepping with my sidekick.

My coworker had inquired about cupcakes for a party a few weeks ago but early this past week asked was I still available to complete the order. I said yes, and I’m glad I did because this order was fun! It was actually my first cupcake pullapart cake.

I ended up doing chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream in the birthday girl’s favorite colors.

After delivering the cake we stopped at “the grilled cheese” place for lunch/dinner. (Panera) I got a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup.

Fun fact: i have decided to go back to my pescatarian diet again!

That meant grocery shopping and meal prepping for a week of success.

I found baby girl some kid safe knives and she was so happy to help me make dinner. I can foresee many nights cooking together in the kitchen.

We ended up making overnight oats for my week snack, veggie stir fry and white rice for lunch and guacamole for the meatless tacos that I ate Sunday night.

In case you were wondering, she did not want to eat any of her creations but don’t worry I’m working on her and eating more colorful foods.

🙂

Weekend in Review- I Said Yes

This weekend my lovely mama came to visit us. Baby girl and I missed her so much !

I set us up for a girls day with a few appointments to look at dresses…

Oh my, I think I have been keeping that a secret from you, haven’t I?

D and I are engaged!!!

We actually got engaged back in May and things have been pretty hectic around here since then. Birthdays, trips out of town, and work around the house plus side business have kept me away..

I guess we can start wedding planning together then can’t we? This will be fun, I’ll share all my inspiration pics and ideas of what I have been tossing around in my head. 😀

Anyway, with mom in town it was a perfect weekend to look at wedding dresses. And guess what?! I said yes to a dress!

The only thing I’ll say is that, exactly like all those brides say on “Say Yes to the Dress” I too found a dress that wasn’t what I thought I would pick. You’ll have to wait until my day to see what it looks like though!
